The University of NSW is one of just two universities worldwide to be included in 50 subject areas on a major international ranking.

The ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects says UNSW and Ohio State University (Columbus) were represented across more subject areas than all other institutions.

UNSW was represented 50 times, including 32 times in the top 100, 18 times in the top 50 and twice in the top 10.

It was followed by the University of Melbourne, which was represented 46 times, including 33 times in the top 100, 17 times in the top 50 and six times in the top 10.

In total, 36 Australian universities are represented in at least one subject area on the ambitious endeavor.

And ....

Of 52 disciplines, Serbia has been ranked high in 18. The best position has food and technology science - it's at 35th place, reports our stringer Mia Nikolic.
