Eating disorders are actually serious and often fatal illnesses that cause severe disturbances to a person's eating behaviours. Obsessions with food, body weight, and shape may also signal an eating disorder. Common eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder.

Anorexia Nervosa is the most common disorder. It is a psychological illness with devastating physical consequences. Anorexia Nervosa is characterised by low body weight and body image distortion with an obsessive fear of gaining weight which manifests itself through depriving the body of food. It often coincides with increased levels of exercise.
About Anorexia disorder and its therapies, we talk to Clinical lecturer from Sydney Medical School of University of Sydney, Psychiatrist Dr Blagoje Kuljić (MD, PhD, FRANZCP).
