The federal attorney-general says a submission will be presented to cabinet about military deployment in emergency situations such as the 'Sydney siege'.

It comes a day after the New South Wales coroner delivered his findings into the deadly 2014 hostage situation.

One of two national army tactical assault groups deployed in counter-terrorism situations was not requested to use force during the incident.

George Brandis says steps to deploy the military are complicated and required changes may involve streamlining powers.
