The federal government says it is confident of meeting the tight timetable it has set to hold a postal plebisicite on same-sex marriage in a matter of weeks.
The High Court will hear a challenge against the $122 million postal vote on September 5 and 6 - days before the government has scheduled for registered voters* to receive ballot papers in the mail, from Septmember 12.
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann has told the ABC, he is confident any legal challenge will be defeated.
If the postal vote proceeds, the government says the results will be announced on November 15.
