A huge boost might be on the way for the Lankan side ahead of the Test series against Indiaas Asela Gunaratne is on the verge of a comeback. The all-rounder made a significant impact in the recent series against Pakistan and played a couple of match-winning knocks. Yet, he suffered a horrendous thumb injury and was ousted from the squad.
SLC President Sumathipala has expressed his hope that he might be joining the team as a 16th player by 20th November. He was also asked to participate in the Emerging Trophy Tournament conducted by the board to ensure he’s not getting back into the National side without much match practice.
