ASIO officers have secured thousands of sensitive government cabinet documents at ABC offices in Canberra and Brisbane in an early morning operation (1am).
The documents include details of five federal government cabinet meetings over a decade, and were sold cheaply at a second-hand shop in Canberra, which stocked ex-government furniture.
The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet has launched an urgent investigation, after the ABC revealed it was given access to the documents.
