The Australian Retailers Association says the spend on Christmas shopping this year is up by 2.8 per cent nationally, with $2.36 billion in sales anticipated for Boxing Day alone.

$20 billion has been spent on food.

Executive director of the Australian Retailers Association, Russell Zimmerman says he expects records to be broken over the coming weeks.
