Venus Williams became the first woman through to the Australian Open semi-finals when she beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Tuesday afternoon. She faces countrywoman Coco Vandeweghe next after the 25-year-old beat Spaniard Garbine Muguruza on Rod Laver Arena.

In the men’s draw, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka have set up a dream all-Swiss semi-final.
