On Day three of the 'Happy Slam' we witnessed a teenage dream come true:
At only 15 years of age, Marta Kostyuk from the Ukraine is the first player born in 2002 to qualify for a Grand Slam and the youngest to win a main draw game in Australia since the great Martina Hingis back in 1997.
Soon afterwards, another surprise win stunned Melbourne Park.
Thailand's qualifier Liksika Kumhkum, world number 124, upset Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, who managed to eliminate 2017 runner-up Venus Williams in round one.
Much less of a surprise was Rafael Nadal's victory over Leonardo Mayer from Argentina.

Caroline Wozniacki had to fight a 2 hours 38 minutes battle against Jana Fett (Cro) before she succeeded.
Aussie hopeful Daria Gavrilova was shocked by Belgium's Elise Bertens, who made it to the next round at 2am.
US qualifier Mackenzie McDonald forced Grigor Dimitrov into a five-sets-thriller, with a fortunate end for the world number three.
Nick Kyrgios also went through to round three, defeating Viktor Troicki from Serbia in straight sets.
