Labor party election promise

Federal Labor has announced $8 million dollars in support for ovarian cancer if elected at the July 2 poll.

Opposition leader Bill Shorten made the announcement on the campaign trail in Melbourne today (25/05/2016).

Mr Shorten says the funds will help in early detection of the disease.

Federal Labor has pledged to enshrine into law the public ownership of Medicare if elected at the July 2 election.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has promised to introduce legislation to prevent the privatisation of Medicare within 100 days if Labor forms government.

Mr Shorten outlined the plan during campaigning in Western Australia.

Greens election promise

The Greens are backing Labor's call to end the freeze on Medicare payments - as they  unveil their public health plan today (25/05/2016).

The plan includes $ 280 million for rural mental health, and an $2.4 billion boost for the Medical Benefits scheme.

Greens Leader Senator Di Natale says the party's commitment to restore $4 billion dollars of funding to the public hospital system will give confidence to patients in rural and regional Australia.
