The Chinese President Xi Jinping has told the Communist Party Congress that China should take centre stage in the world and work to build a great power.
The address, which lasted over three hours, provided important policy clues for the direction of the country.
He said China's international standing had grown during his first five years in office.
But he acknowledged it faced severe challenges.
He said a zero tolerance fight against party corruption would go on and vowed to strengthen China's debt-ridden state enterprises, while also promoting globally competitive companies.
