Curfew and emergency laws declared in Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has ordered to impose curfew in the Western Province with immediate effect and emergency law around Sri Lanka

The Prime Minister has also ordered the security forces to arrest people acting riotously and seize the trucks and other motor vehicles they are traveling in.

Earlier the Police fired tear gas on protesters who gathered near the office of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Flower Road, Colombo.

Many people reached the location from the Galle Face protest site and staged a protest.

They demanded that Ranil Wickremesinghe step down as Prime Minister.

The military was deployed to control the situation.
