Delays for passengers at Melbourne Airport since the Uber protest.

Delays for passengers at Melbourne Airport taxi drivers stage Uber protest

Source: News Corp Australia

Passengers have been urged to arrive at Melbourne Airport early for their morning flights, after about 150 taxi drivers blockaded the main entrance in protest against Uber being granted permission to offer rides from the airport.

The drivers blockaded the main entrance to the terminals on Tuesday night, with police issuing a number of infringement notices.

Two taxis were towed, police said.

While the blockade has now been cleared, the airport said there may be continued protests this morning.

The disruption prompted the airport to offer free rides on its shuttle bus service for affected passengers.

As of today, Uber drivers are allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at the airport.
