A career-best unbeaten 151 by Craig Ervine helped Zimbabwe take first day’s honours on day one of the one-off Test at R Premadasa Stadium.
Sri Lanka picked wickets at regular intervals but Ervine stood firm with a magnificent effort as Zimbabwe ended with a score of 344 for the loss of nine wickets.
After electing to bat first, spinner Rangana Herath put Zimbabwe under pressure early on picking both openers cheaply but Ervine produced a gem of an innings to take his side to a commanding position.
