A four day work week, or six hour days, with a guaranteed “adequate income” would make Australians happier, reduce the cost of childcare, and create more jobs for others, according to Greens leader Richard Di Natale.

The former doctor will outline his party’s priorities at the National Press Club on Wednesday, and wants to “kick off a conversation” about the future of work.

“We rightly talk about the 16 per cent of people who want to work more hours, but we never hear about the more than one in four Australians who want to work less,” Senator Di Natale will say.
