The United States is withdrawing troops from northeast Syria - clearing the path for Turkey to launch a military led offensive against Kurdish forces.
Kurdish-lead forces had been a key US ally in Syria where they helped to defeat IS but Turkey regards the Kurds as terrorists.
After a phone call with President Donald Trump, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan says the US has already started to withdraw troops from sections of northeast Syria.
The main Kurdish-led group has called the US move a "stab in the back."
President Trump defended the withdrawal by tweeting that it was time to "get ouf of these ridiculous Endless Wars."
