The Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court has decided to temporarily divert all the rubbish that would have previously been dumped in Meethotamulla to the mound at Karadiyana in Piliyandala,
The Colombo Municipal Council stated that measures have been taken to deposit all the rubbish accumulated in the city Colombo during the past couple of days, at the landfill site in Karadiyana.
The council further added that the rubbish will be deposited in several other places in Colombo, for which the location will not be revealed to the media.
However, the Karadiyana landfill site will only experience this extra influx of garbage from the 17.04.2017 to the 28.04.2017, and will not exceed a total weight of 350 metric tons.
