Former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Director General Anusha Palpita were today sentenced to three-year Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 2 million each by the Colombo High Court.
They were today found guilty of misappropriating Rs. 600 million of funds belonging to TRC over Controversial Sil Redi (fabrics used by devotees to observe sill) distribution case.
The High Court also ordered them to pay a compensation of Rs. 50 million each to the TRC.
