The mother of the man who allegedly mowed down 18 pedestrians on Flinders Street in Melbourne has defended her son.
32-year-old Saeed Noori has been charged with 18 counts of attempted murder, and one count of conduct endangering life.
He has been remanded in custody after a brief court appearance.
Police allege Noori drove a white 4-wheel-drive into pedestrians at the intersection of Flinders and Elizabeth streets on Thursday afternoon.
He will reappear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday (dec 27) for a preliminary filing hearing.
