MP Namal Rajapaksa’s former secretary Ornella Iresha Silva was arrested today (10/10) morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake following a court order.
She was arrived at the BIA at 05.07 this morning from Abu Dhabi
Later she was handed over to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) officers at the airport.
She was wanted over the court case involving alleged money laundering which is to be taken up at the Colombo Magistrate's Court today.

On 2 November 2023, the Colombo High Court acquitted SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa and four others including Onella Iresha Silva in the Gowers Corporate Services (Pvt) Ltd money laundering case, citing unreliable prosecution evidence. The case stemmed from a complaint by Voice Against Corruption Convener Wasantha Samarasinghe, who alleged Rajapaksa used Rs. 125 million in illicit funds to invest in Hello Corp and establish Gowers Corporate Services while serving as an MP.
