A Tamil diaspora group based in the United States today urged President Barack Obama to delist the Tamil Tigers from the US Terrorism list.

Many Tamils are suffering from the listing of Tamil Tigers, a spokesman for Tamils for Obama said.

“Because of the listing of Tamil Tigers, it creates pain for many US Tamils when they travel to abroad and when they return to US. They have to go through many hours of interrogation.”

Some US Tamils have asked us to convince President Obama to help us by removing Tamil Tigers from the list, he said.

“Obama can give Tamils a little relief by de-listing the Tamil Tiger during this Christmas and giving season.”

“The Tamil Tiger were defunct and no more of them. No Tiger activities reported for last seven years. There is no reason to keep them on the list,” the release said.
