Justice Minister Michael Keenan says the federal government is doing everything it can to keep Australians safe, after authorities in Sydney foiled a suspected terror plot to bring down a plane with a bomb.

Four men arrested on the weekend remain in custody, after police raided five properties in the Sydney suburbs of Surry Hills, Lakemba, Wiley Park and Punchbowl.

Minister Keenan has told Sky News, the plot is the thirteenth significant conspiracy to be foiled by Australian authorities.
