Tamil Eelam removed from ABS due joint efforts of Sri Lankan in Australia

Sri Lankan who living in Australia informed along with Sri Lankan High Commission in Australia to ABS that there are no country called “Tamil Eelam” and kindly removed if there is any name in ABS which related to “Tamil Eelam”.

Many Sri Lankan were worried since they saw there was “Tamil Eelam” showed in ABS site under the Country Description.

Then Sri Lankan who living in Australia informed along with Sri Lankan High Commission in Australia to ABS that there are no country called “Tamil Eelam” and kindly removed if there is any name in ABS which related to “Tamil Eelam”. .

ABS kindly and quickly responded to that request and said that ABS has never recognised Tamil Eelam as a country and also the coding index has updated to remove all the references to Tamil Eelam.

Now the current updated Standard Australian Classification of Countries (SACC), 2016 has no references to “Tamil Eelam” in anyhow.
