The federal Treasurer Scott Morrison will tonight (09/05) deliver his second budget.
Among the measures announced in the lead-up are cuts to higher education and university funding, social security and changes to refugee sponsorship.
Most recently the government promised to boost funding for the federal police by over 300-million-dollars.
Some measures that failed to pass the parliament since the controversial 2014 Budget will be abandoned.
The coalition has amended the forecast surplus to 2021 as Australia's gross debt approaches half-a-trillion-dollars.
Labor's treasury spokesman Chris Bowen told the A-B-C the government's economic policy is again doomed to fail.
