Theresa May will be in place as PM by Wednesday evening: David Cameron

David Cameron has issued a statement that he will hand over as Prime Minister to Theresa May. Mr Cameron said he will hand in his resignation on Wednesday (12 th of July).

 He said he will take PM questions in the parliament tomorrow and then after he will go to the Buckingham palace and resign formally before the Queen. He said he expects the new Prime Minister to be in place by Wednesday evening.

 

Secretary Theresa May has emerged as the only candidate to replace Prime Minister David Cameron as leader of the Conservative Party after Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom dropped out Monday. She is expected to be sworn in later this week.
