Liberal backbencher John Alexander is seeking urgent advice on whether he is a British citizen, after questions emerged about his potential U-K ties on Monday.
Mr Alexander says he believes he's in the clear, as his British-born father formally renounced his U-K citizenship before he was born.
It comes after the Prime Minister announced a plan to end the citizenship crisis, with parliamentarians forced to prove they had renounced any foreign allegiances by Christmas, and having to declare their parents' birthplaces.
However, Malcolm Turnbull has conceded the fix could ensnare more members of parliament.
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann has told the A-B-C, the move will provide an extra level of certainty.
