SBS and Community Languages Australia (CLA) would like to thank everyone who entered the inaugural SBS National Languages Competition. More than 20,000 children nationwide aged four to 18 have told us what learning another language means to them through illustration or text. This exciting initiative aims to encourage and celebrate a love of learning languages in Australia.

The 24 state winners below are eligible for People’s Choice. There’s one Sinhalese-speaking finalist in the top 24 who is Oneth Sugathadasa. You can give your vote to Oneth by going to http://www.sbs.com.au/radio/nlc-peoples-choice web site by today (09/09) 5.30pm (AEST) and get a chance to win an iPad Air 2. The entry with the most votes in each category will win a trip to Sydney with a parent or guardian to accept their award and an iPad Mini at the SBS National Languages Competition Award Ceremony on 8 October, 2016.
