Zimbabwe batted and bowled brilliantly to defeat Sri Lanka by 12 runs in the second match of the tri-nation ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, yesterday (17/01).

Zimbabwe put up a total of 290/6 in 50 overs after being put in to bat.

Opener Hamilton Masakadza and Sikandar Raza scored 73 and 81 not out respectively to give Zimbabwe a strong total after they lost the first match against hosts Bangladesh.

Medium pacer Asela Gunaratne was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers, scalping three wickets for 37 runs in his seven fours.

In reply, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets from the start. Though opener Kusal Perera, captain Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera played decent knocks, they did not get enough support from other batsmen.
