From July 1st this year, Australia's major clothing store owners will have to pay an additional 4 cents tax on every new garment sold in Australia. Australia is considered to be the world's largest consumer of ready-made garments on a per capita basis. Due to this, the Australian government has taken this step in order to reduce the amount of clothes thrown away by Australians. Listen to SBS Sinhala explainer for more information.
