Why misinformation policy for Facebook and other social media is important?

Recently some media reports reveal that Facebook has implemented new misinformation policy for Sri Lanka and will be implemented similar policy in countries such as Myanmar in future. SBS Sinhalese interviewed senior researcher at Centre for policy alternatives (Sri Lanka) Mr Sanjana Hattotuwa regarding Social media trends in Sri Lanka and importance of this policy. Sanjana was the first Sri Lankan to be awarded a TED Fellowship and currently completing his Phd at University of Otago New Zealand.
