After hours of negotiations, countries participating in United Nations talks to curb global warming have struck a deal, agreeing to the Glasgow Climate Pact. All 197 parties of the United Nations have signed up, despite some reservation, disappointment and a last minute controversy around the wording of coal in the document.

Representatives of almost 200 countries around the world have signed an agreement that largely confirms the previous one, signed in Paris.

Limiting global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius, which requires a radical reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and zero emissions (in other words carbon neutrality), by 2050.
