In memoriam pater Bazilij Valentin OFM MBE (1924-1997)

Listen to highlights from the special memorial service and cultural program commemorating the 21st anniversary of the death and funeral of Father Basil Valentin OFM MBE. Fr Basil established the Saints Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Catholic Mission and Church in Kew, with the support of the Slovenian Community in Victoria. He is regarded as being one of the pillars of the Slovenian Community in Australia. The program was held in the Saints Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Church in Kew on Sunday, August 5th 2018. Members of the Slovenian Drama Group and the wider Slovenian Community, Planika Choir and the Kew Church Choir participated in the program under the guidance of Mrs Draga Gelt OAM. Emotional speeches and tributes were also given in both Slovenian and English. Father Cirl Božič OFM OAM EV, who has been leading the Saints Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Mission in Kew since 2001 paid his own tribute to the late Fr Basil Valentin and thanked everyone who participated in the cultural program and memorial service in his honour.
