In memoriam pater Valerijan Jenko OFM OAM (06.01.1926-15.06.2018)

We pay tribute to Father Valerijan Jenko OFM, OAM, who passed way in Ljubljana on June 15th 2018, aged 92. Fr Valerijan established the Saint Rafael's Slovenian Catholic Church and mission in the Sydney suburb of Merrylands with the help and support of the Slovenian Community in NSW. Fr Darko Zndaršič OFM, who took over leadership of the Slovenian Mission in Merrylands from Fr Valerijan in 2005 pays tribute to the life of Fr Valerijan, who worked tirelessly as a priest, cultural and social worker within the Slovenian Community in Australia for over half a century. SBS Slovenian Executive Producer, Tania Smrdel was fortunate enough to record a number of interviews with the late Fr Valerijan Jenko when she visited him in Slovenia. This feature contains highlights from these interviews.
