Matjaž Drevenšek is a renowned Slovenian saxophonist, professor and vice-dean of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. His outstanding abilities as a music educator has made him a mentor for many young saxophonists in Slovenia and elsewhere. Born in Maribor, Matjaž now resides in Ljubljana. He spoke to SBS about his illustrious career as a musician and educator after receiving the prestigious Gerbič Award for his lifetime achievements in music education.
