The head of DRC's electoral commission (CENI) Corneille Nangaa, in a press statement said the commission was not prepared to hold the elections following the fire which destroyed voting machines.

Mr Nangaa added that "The presidential, legislative and provincial elections will therefore take place on December 30, 2018,"

According to reports from CENI, last week more than 80 percent of voting machines in it's warehouse in nations capital Kinshasa, were destroyed in a fire. Thus hindering CENI's ability to ensure votes were cast on the same day countrywide.
