This hope was brought created by Shujaa's last performance in Hamilton, New Zealand where Kenya won three matches and only lost two matches.

However those hopes were quickly dashed following a string of disappointing performances by Shujaa, as a result kenya finished the Sydney7s tournament for the first time ever without a single victory.

When we spoke with Shujaa's captain Jacob Ojee, he too expressed his and his team mates disappointment with the results of the matches which they played.

Mr Ojee thanked fans for their ongoing support and faith in the team. He also promised the team will work on lessons gained at the Sydney7s and improve in upcoming Sevens series.

Despite Shujaa's poor results, many fans weren't complitely dishartened, the large Kenyan support base, quickly adopted new teams to cheer for as soon as their side was knocked out of the tournament.

New Zealand flexed it's muscle where it mattered, which led to the men and women's sides winning their respective tournaments at the Sydney7s 2019 tournament.
