For many migrants and refugees, staying connected to traditional ways of growing and eating food is important to building a new life in Australia.


In Western Australia, African-Australians are turning ordinary backyards into thriving food baskets, putting fresh vegetables on the table and keeping their unique food cultures alive.

It's one way of keeping culture alive for those that don’t mind getting their hands dirty.
