A relatively unknown senator called for a ban on Muslim immigration, and the Coalition's signature energy policy gained cautious approval from the party room.
Each matter caused a ruckus, one louder than the other.
While Coalition members can, in theory, vote as their conscience demands on legislation, it would be a bad look for the Government if some cross the floor on the energy guarantee.
