The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability is now underway.

Disability rights advocates say Australians should expect to hear horrific stories during the Commission proceedings.

But a growing number of other advocates say they may boycott the long-awaited three year inquiry over perceived conflicts of interest.

Commissioners have been told to provide an interim report by the 30th of October 2020 and a final report on April 29th 2022.

The inquiry will be based in Brisbane but is holding hearings around the country. People can also make submissions online.

And if you or anyone you know needs help you can call services such as Lifeline on 13 11 14 and the National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline on 1800 880 052.
