Communication is very important in human interaction, and as a result we all use different methods to get our messages across.

At some point one has to learn a new language in order to communicate participate effectively in conversations and get their desired information known.

As part of SBS's National Languages competition, SBS Swahili recently visited a community school in Newcastle NSW, where students with East African heritage have been given an opportunity to learn Kiswahili, which is a national language in more than 4 countries in Africa.

Parents, students and the teacher told SBS Swahili about their experiences learning Kiswahili at the school.
