International community turns it's back on Bukoba and Kagera

The regional town of Bukoba in Tanzania continues it's slow recovery following the devastating earthquake, which killed 16 and left more than 250 people with serious injuries.

The regional town of Bukoba in Tanzania continues it's slow recovery following the devastating earthquake, which killed 16 and left more than 250 people with serious injuries.


Locals are accusing International media and organisations of shown little interest in the area, leaving many with feelings of abandonment. This is in stack contrast to other disaster hit areas around the world which saw the international community spring into action to provide assistance.

 

SBS Radio spoke with BBC Swahili's Sammy Awami, who was in the affected area.
