One of the government’s most prominent faces has condemned bullying within her party.

Former foreign minister Julie Bishop says the behavior she has witnessed in Canberra wouldn’t be accepted anywhere else.

But some within the Liberal party say they haven't seen evidence of any issues. Some have pointed out hypocrisy on the part of Ms Bishop.

When Julia Gillard made her famous misogyny speech, calling out sexism in Canberra, Ms Bishop said the former Prime Minister was "playing the victim".

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has indicated he will deal with the issue.

But with some prepared to name and shame party bullies, and Julie Bishop's new found freedom as a back-bencher, it could prove to be a persistent problem for the new leader.
