Malcolm Turnbull has been promoting a new deal to resettle refugees in the United States, but he can't say how many will be sent, or even if the deal will survive past January when US president-elect Donald Trump takes office.
The prime minister says the deal was struck with the Obama administration some time ago and the issue hasn't been raised with Mr Trump.
Mr Turnbull says the government is dealing with one administration at a time over the plan.
