Finger pointing is underway in the aftermath of the Queensland state election.

Labor is predicted to return to form a majority government, with the L-N-P expected to fall short as counting from Saturday's election continues this week.

Current counting shows Labor on 43 seats, with predictions the A-L-P will win 47, while the L-N-P is predicted to take about 40.

But a definitive result could still be several days away, with many seats down to preferences on pre-poll and postal votes.
