If Australia beats Peru, Denmark must lose against France to give the Socceroos a chance to advance through to the knockout rounds.

But even then, it is not a sure thing.

The fate of Australia's and Denmark's World Cup journeys could come down to goal difference.

If Australia wins and Denmark loses to France, goal difference would then determine which of the two teams advances to the knockout rounds.

Australia enters with two goals scored and three given up, while Denmark has scored twice and surrendered one goal.
