The dreaded 30th Newspoll result seemed to be central to all the news out of Canberra this week.
It was the story going into the week, and it remained the story coming out.
And despite giving the Prime Minister unconditional support this week, the Treasurer, the Energy Minister and the Home Affairs Minister all admitted interest in the job.
Each admitted that, if an opportunity presented itself, he would want to be prime minister in the future.
That is an unsurprising statement from any politician, but it is also unhelpful, considering the tensions inside the Coalition.
