ஆஸ்திரேலியாவிற்குள் அனுமதிக்கப்படும் அகதிகளின் எண்ணிக்கையை மூன்று மடங்காக்கி, 42 ஆயிரம் பேரை அடுத்த ஐந்து வருடங்களில் அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும் என்று Oxfam என்ற தொண்டு நிறுவனம் கோரியுள்ளது.
ஆஸ்திரேலியா இந்த வருடம் 13,750 அகதிகளை அனுமதிக்கிறது. இந்தத் தொகை, அடுத்த இரண்டு வருடங்களில் 18,750 ஆக உயர்த்தப்படுகிறது.
இதேவேளை உலகின் 12வது பணக்கார நாடான ஆஸ்திரேலியா, உலகின் 0.2 சதவீதமான அகதிகளையே நாட்டினுள் அனுமதிக்கிறது என Oxfam செய்த கணிப்பு சொல்கிறது.
எனவே அகதிகளுக்காக அஸ்திரேலியா இன்னமும் செய்யலாம் என Oxfam நிறுவனத்தின் அதிபர் Helen Szoke தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
