The first post-independence leader of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, has died aged 95.
Mugabe led the ZANU-PF to power in a vote when the country became independent from Britain in 1980 and ruled for 37 years.
But human rights abuses and flawed elections prompted many Western countries to impose sanctions in the early 2000s.
On Friday, the country's education secretary Fadzayi Mahere tweeted "Rest In Peace, Robert Mugabe. My response to your passing is complicated".
He was placed under house arrest and replaced as leader in 2017, aged 93.
