News: Facebook revealed 311,127 Australian users may have had their data accessed

In a stunning development, facebook has now revealed that up to 87 million people had their profile data shared with Cambridge Analytica worldwide, including more than 311,127 Australians.

More than 300 thousand Australian Facebook users may have had their personal information accessed to political consultancy firm Cambridge Analytica.

Up to 87 million users worldwide had their data unknowingly shared with the agency, who worked to develop tools for political campaigns with the data, including for the campaign of Donald Trump in the 2016 U-S presidential election.

That's more users than was first thought who have been affected.

Australia is in the top ten of countries with users affected.

The United States had the most, with the United Kingdom, the Philippines, and Indonesia all also having more than one million users affected.

Facebook has 15 million active Australian users per month.
