A ceremony to mark the end of the war at Gallipoli

The guns fell silent and peace arrived in the ANZAC Sector at Gallipoli in the early hours of 20th of December 1915. This signalled the end of hostilities between the foes which began on 25 April 1915 which caused many thousands of both sides sacrifice their lives. The 102nd anniversary of this important event was commemorated at the Shrine of Remembrance with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Sanctuary.

Friends of Gallipoli Inc. And RSL- Victorian Branch co-ordinated ceremony at the Shrine of the Remembrance.

Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Turkish Consul-General Mr Mehmet Küçüksakallı and State President of Returned and Services League [RSL] Victorian Branch Dr Robert Webster attended the ceremony at the Shrine of remembrance.

This year’s ceremony will be 6th such event in Melbourne
